A bit of a clunker, the Y-Wing was a workhorse of a vehicle. Whether it was bombing Empire strongholds or firing at enemy ships, the Y-Wing was crucial in taking out the Death Star and turning the tide on battles to help the Alliance win.

A vehicle that seems to be based off a Roman chariot, Anakin’s Podracer was built by the young boy from parts he found lying around. The two massive jet engines were held together by an energy stream and linked back to his control console with thin cables

Landspeeder

One of the most common vehicles produced in the galaxy, the Landspeeder could zip across terrain while hovering a few feet off the ground. Though small, this Star Wars vehicle could reach speeds from 60-150 mph (100-250 kph). Luke’s X-34 version was piloted via a steering wheel and foot pedals.

Taking three clone troopers to pilot it, the ARC-170 (standing for Aggressive ReConnaissance) looks similar to the X-Wing and can be seen as an early incarnation if you watch the films in the order the storyline occurs. It is a major protector of Anakin and Obi-Wan during the opening scenes of Revenge of the Sith.

Looking like a giant metallic crab, the Droid Starfighter had many aspects which distinguished it from other Star Wars vehicles. These ships didn’t need a physical pilot as they were controlled by droid brains and they could invert their wings upon landing, allowing them to walk about.

Sporting a design looking like two skis connected at the middle, the Trade Federation Landing Ship was used to shuttle troops and ground vehicles from ships to planet level. Each was capable of shuttling 114 AATs (Armoured Assault Tanks), 28 PACs (which could carry up to 112 battle droids), and 11 MTTs (which could carry another 112 battle droids), making them essentially massive droid buses.

The Separatist Destroyer or Recusant-Class Light Destroyer played a major role in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. They even were General Grievous’s centre of command during battle.

A major means of transport for the Sith Empire (and a personal favourite of Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine), the Imperial Shuttle featured a front-jutting cockpit and foldable wings for better cargo hold storage.

Bearing a terrifying name, the Imperial Star Destroyer featured a wedge-shaped body with a length up to 2.3 miles (3.8 kms). Its design allowed it to focus firepower forward and take out entire star systems.

Millennium Falcon

The head honcho of Star Wars vehicles has to be the Millennium Falcon. Officially called the YT-1300, Han Solo won this ship from Lando Calrissian. Instrumental in destroying both Death Stars, this famous ship is said, by George Lucas, to have been modelled after a hamburger. Food or friend, it’s rumoured the Millennium Falcon will be back in The Force Awakens.
